European and Worldwide Accreditations
About: Introduction
The EuroAmerican Institute (EAI) is headquartered in Malta, which has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and the European Higher Education Area since 2010. Under Higher Education Institute Licence No. 2024 – 032, granted by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority MFHEA, EAI is authorised to offer doctoral programmes at Levels 8 of both the Maltese Qualifications Framework (MQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The MFHEA licence is recognised within the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) due to its compatibility with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). It allows for portability of higher education credits and degrees within the European Union. Malta is also a member of the Bologna Process, which ensures that EAI degrees are fully recognised qualifications throughout Europe and beyond under various treaty obligations, including the Lisbon Recognition Convention.
The Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications Concerning Higher Education in the European Region (ETS No. 165), also known as the Lisbon Recognition. Convention (LRC), ensures the recognition of the EAI degrees and awards by approximately 57 countries that are signatories to the convention and are under treaty obligation. A full list of signatory countries can be found on the Council of Europe website. Similarly, the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications Concerning Higher Education, adopted by The General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) at its 40th session in Paris (12-27 November 2019), further strengthens and promotes international mobility by ensuring the recognition of the qualifications approved by National Accreditation Authorities of member states at a global level. Details of the convention are available on the UNESCO website.
